1. Spend the day in Stone Town. Stone Town is the historic heart of Zanzibar, and an absolute must visit, if you're elsewhere on the island.  It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a vibrant cultural hub with a mix of African, Arabic, and Indian influences. Soak in the buzzing winding narrow streets, its bustling markets and sample the delicious local cuisine. Learn more here.


2. Kitesurfing Paje Beach. Paje Beach is a world-class kitesurfing destination with steady side-onshore winds and flat water perfect for beginners and freestylers. You'll find kitesurfing schools offer lessons and rentals for all skill levels. Learn more here.


3. Safari at Mikumi National Park. Mikumi National Park is a great option for experiencing a Tanzaznian Safari, due to its diverse wildlife and easy accessibility from Zanzibar. They offer packages leaving on an early morning flight from Zanzibar, and returning that evening. Learn more here.


4. Go to a full moon party at Kendwa Rocks. The Full Moon Party at Kendwa Rocks is a longstanding tradition attracting tourists to Zanzibar for over two decades. Known for its energetic atmosphere with live music, DJs, acrobatic shows, and dancing under the African night sky.  The party is held on the first Saturday following a full moon. Learn more here.


5. Safari at Nyerere National Park. Nyerere National Park is the largest wildlife reserve in Africa. Because of its size and distance from Zanzibar its best experienced on a multi-day trip. However, if you are short on time you can do a day trip, to and from Zanzibar, and still experience the parks wonders. Learn more here.


6. Have lunch at The Rock Restaurant. Built on a small rock just off the shore of Michamvi Pingwe Beach on the southeastern coast of Zanzibar,  The Rock offers a truly unique dining experience. The restaurant is accessible only by a wooden dhow boat during high tide.  At low tide, you can walk out to the restaurant on a sandbank. Learn more here.


7. Explore Kuza Cave. Kuza Cave is a hidden gem located on the east coast of Zanzibar, close to Jambiani village . It's an ancient limestone cave with a crystal clear freshwater pool, surrounded by lush greenery.   In addition to swimming and exploring the cave, visitors can also enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch, take a cooking class, or learn about drumming and dancing. 8. Swim with Turtles at Nungwi Lagoon. Nungwi Lagoon, also known as Mnarani Marine Turtles Conservation Lagoon, is a natural tidal pool located at the northernmost tip of Zanzibar Island, in the small village of Nungwi, near the lighthouse. Swimming with the turtles is done under the supervision of knowledgeable guides to ensure the safety of both the turtles and visitors.

9. Spend the day at Prison Island. Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, is a small island located just off the coast of Stone Town, Zanzibar. Beyond it stunning beaches, it has a fascinating history and you can explore the ruins of the old prison building and the quarantine hospital. The main attraction is the Giant Tortoise Sanctuary,  which is home to a population of over 100 Aldabra giant tortoises. Learn more here.


10. See the monkeys at Jozani Forest. Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, more commonly known as Jozani Forest, is home to the Red Colobus Monkey, an endangered species only found in Zanzibar. 11. Visit the Kiwengwa Caves. The Kiwengwa Caves are a hidden gem located on the east coast of Zanzibar, nestled within the Kiwengwa-Pongwe Forest Reserve. Formed millions of years ago from the erosion of coral rock, the local people,  believe they possess healing powers. Learn more here.

13. Experience the Darajani Market. Immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of a traditional Zanzibari market. The air is filled with the intoxicating aromas of fresh spices, creating a sensory overload. You can indulge in local street food, sample exotic fruits and observe the art of haggling. 14. Suntan at Nakupenda Sandbank. Nakupenda Sandbank, meaning "I love you" in Swahili,  is a picture-perfect sandbank located just off the coast of Stone Town, Zanzibar. The sandbank itself is a dazzling white stretch of sand,  perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and soaking up the sun. 15. Street food at Forodhani Gardens. Forodhani Gardens, also known as Jubilee Gardens or Forodhani Park, is a small park located along the main seafront of Stone Town, Zanzibar. 16. Take a spice tour. Spice tours are a quintessential experience in Zanzibar, also known as the "Spice Island." You'll visit a local spice plantation,  where you'll see a wide variety of spices growing in their natural environment. 17. Snorkel Mnemba Island. Mnemba Island is a single small island located off the northeast coast of Unguja. The reefs have been declared a marine conservation area due to the rich marine life they support. 18. Wild dolphin tour in Kizimkazi. Kizimkazi is nicknamed "Dolphin Village" because bottlenose dolphins are frequently spotted in the waters. You'll board a traditional wooden dhow or a speedboat and head out into the Indian Ocean in search of dolphins.
