High-speed AVE trains is an impressive high-speed rail network, and can whisk you between major cities. Renting a car gives you the most flexibility, as metered taxi fairs around can add up quickly. Bus travel is cheaper than trains, for longer distances.
CURRENCY:
(EURO) Spain is predominantly a cashless society. Use a bank ATM if you want to just keep a small amount of cash on hand for taxi's rides.

The cost is considered Moderate to High. During peak season, you can expect to spend $90- $400/night for accommodation, depending on travel style. November-March is the off season & the cheapest time to visit.

Solo Safety Rating: SAFE. Be mindful of your belongings in crowded areas like public transportation for pickpocketing. Be aware of when crossing streets, especially as some drivers may not always yield to pedestrians.

Local Language: Spanish. English is the most widely spoken foreign language in Spain. The younger generation learns English in school so most tend to speak it fluently.

Siesta is a real thing. Many shops and businesses close down for a siesta break in the afternoon, typically from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Spaniards tend to eat dinner much later than in many other cultures, starting around 9:00PM or later.
