Trains, buses, trams, and metros can take you anywhere you want to go. The trains are especially good for getting between cities, while the trams and buses are great for getting around town. Locals get around town by bike.
CURRENCY:
(EURO) Generally, credit cards are a safe and convenient way to pay in the Netherlands. However, it's always a good idea to carry a small amount of cash in euros for emergencies. Just hit up a bank ATM, when you arrive.
is it expensive?
Netherlands is considered Moderate to High. You can expect to pay $50 (hostels) - $400/night during peak season. The more affordable time to visit is spring (March to May) and fall (September to November).

Solo Safety Rating: SAFE. When is comes to safety, Amsterdam is ranked #2 in the world. Solo travelers can feel comfortable navigating the city. Obviously, alway use common sense.
language:
The local language is Dutch, however English is widely spoken.
travel tips
The Dutch have an extensive bicycle infrastructure. Cannabis is legal by those over 18. Get an OV-chipkaart: a reusable travel card that you can use on public transportation. Not mandatory, but common to leave a 10% tip.
